


Support to the Supervisory System or Apex Bodies of MFIS
Under the second output of the component 2, SPEED Ghana provides technical assistance to the Apex bodies of the micro finance institutions. The objective of the support is to help in introducing new services or improving the existing services to their members and to strengthening the regulation and supervision of this sub-sector
CO-OPERATION WITH GHAMFIN
In order to enhance financial transparency among its partner institutions, SPEED supports the adaptation of the SEEP frame by practitioner MFIs as a management tool for financial reporting. SPEED further supports the use of the MIX reporting format particularly for it partner MFIs in the three northern regions of Ghana. There activities are conducted in collaboration with Ghana Financial Institution Network (GHAMFIN). SPEED Ghana has also been supporting GHAMFIN to disseminate national and international best practices such as the state-of-art performance monitoring and benchmarking system MIX- among its members.
SUPPORT TO CUA
CUA is a regulator and supervisor of about 400 credit unions spread across all regions in the country. SPEED, with consent of the management of CUA, contracted Microsave Consulting Services (Africa) to undertake two (2) assignments namely:
- A review of CUA's member services to credit union, and
- A review of CUA's administrative set up as a supervisory body for the credit unions
Based on the outcome of the review by Microsave Africa, it was clear that fundamental changes were required to achieve fundamental improvement in CUA's performance as a supervisory and regulatory body for credit unions. SPEED Ghana, upon a discussion with the management and BOD of CUA agreed to assist CUA in the following areas:
- An HR Audit of CUA to help address administrative and operational challenges being faced by the Association.
- Training in Delinquency management has been organized for CUA some of the chapter members to help solve the delinquency problem of it chapter members
