BDS (Business Development Services)

BDS Introduction

BDS is the acronym for Business Development Services, which refers to any non-financial services that are used by MSMEs to operated and develop their businesses. There is a wide range of BDS in different fields, such as market access, managerial and technical assistance, technology and product development, input supply, infrastructure and communication, and advocacy.

SPEED Ghana supports the development of the BDS market, which means that its support goes to the providers of BDS and also to the sensitization of MSMEs about the use of BDS towards the improvement of their business.

The BDS component of SPEED Ghana pays special attention to the BDS markets in selected value-chains, being tourism, wood products, natural plant products, garment & textile, and ICT (information and communication technology). Here development objectives are optimally met: geographical outreach; high contribution to value-adding; good potential for export promotion; high benefits for women entrepreneurs and workers, etc.
