Information Communication Technology (ICT)
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) includes traditional as well as internet based methods, thus ranging from telephone and fax machines, to e-mail, internet, e-commerce, etc. The use of ICT in Ghana by the private sector has high growth potential, which on its turn would contribute to the further growth of MSMEs.The segment of the ICT sector that is in the focus of SPEED is “the use of ICT in the BDS market”. Interventions of SPEED to promote the use of ICT could include national capacity development for web design services, promotion of (existing) ICT applications that are specifically designed for the use by MSMEs, awareness creation campaigns for the use of ICT among MSMEs, the promotion among BDS providers to delivery their BDS via ICT methodologies, the use of ICT in financial services (on the path towards internet banking), etc.
